Shanghai: Temple of Town God and Chenxiannge Nunnery

Traditionally, each Chinese town has a Taoist Temple of Town God.  During the Cultural Revolution, several of these temples were destroyed.  This temple was built in 1403.  This is a very active temple.
Burning incense outside of the temple...

A community of about 40 dark-clothed nuns live in the Chenxiannge Nunnery.  I enjoyed this place because there were few tourists and as you walked through the temple, you could hear the voices of so many women singing and chanting.  The photo below is of the dormitory.
I enjoyed seeing so many female deities.
Very peaceful and tranquil.
I took few pictures here because I didn't want to be disrespectful of those praying, singing, and chanting.
